Humanity : The Caretakers of an Equal World

Writer's picture: Ajit SinhaAjit Sinha

This weekend is for reflection against racism for me. The revered Pope apologised to indigenous people in Canada for the enormous pain inflicted on them for several generations. He spoke for the several who inflicted irreparable wound on the psyche of the indigenous population who faced the cruelty and barbarism of the colonists for several years. The pain persists and lingers. The actions against the discrimination must continue. Wish you can spare the time to read the literary description of my pain.

Racism springs from the need of individuals who feel superior to others. This need is irrational and stems from complete lack of confidence in one’s own intellect and skills. Michelle Obama, the former fist lady of the United States of America said, “History has shown us that courage can be contagious, and hope can take on a life of its own.” The courage that I would like to refer to is to respond to racism correctly. Not responding will encourage more racist actions by perpetrators.
